Getting your Foot in the Door Isn’t that Scary! One of my
blog readers, Troy Copes, wrote to me recently and suggested I
write a post about how to approach modeling agencies. In truth, I
have gotten a fair amount of emails asking the same question. So I
thought I’d try to answer the question [...]

Some things are better the second time around. Case in point:
Ecoist’s collection of fashion accessories designed and made
entirely from repurposed Coke Cola labels. Ecoist sources its raw
materials from Coke manufacturers in Peru (rescuing the misprinted
or discontinued), and local artisans weave labels into a variety of
bags and clutches. Check out the [...]
Edward Finney's debut Autumn/Winter collection earlier this year
catapulted him to the forefront of fashion's New Talent.
I have a habit of seeing the perverse in all things totally vanilla
(like these ball sack and bikini line bags spotted in December of
last year.) But, I was tickled all shades of pink when I saw this
intentionally perverse bag by UK-based Andy Bates (made especially
for one very lovely, albeit wildly eccentric, Grayson Perry). Not
only did he manage to make something as unattractive as hairy
testicles look surprisingly haute couture, he managed to add whimsy
(namely the flower-shaped anus and silver Prince Albert bell) to
make this my new favorite bag -- not that I have the balls to
actually carry one around myself ;)Trend de la Crème -

Mara went au naturel at the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" premiere in
the spring. Photo: Michael Kovac/FilmMagic.com Rooney Mara has
proven her star-worthy qualities on the big screen as well as on
the red carpet. Our friends over at PopEater reported that the
budding actress has nabbed the starring role in the film adaptation
of Stieg Larsson's bestseller "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
Mara, who previously appeared in "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and
will next be seen in "The Social Network," will play Lisbeth
Salander, a fearless genius tormented by a terrible childhood, in
the crime thriller. Even more impressive than her recent string of
feature films, has been Rooney's red carpet style. For her "A
Nightmare on ...

Praise the fashion gods! New York's Fall Fashion issue is finally
on newsstands, and boy is she loaded: We've got features on the
elusive Katie Holmes, the holy Michael Kors, the spectacular Johnny
Weir, the inimitable Daphne Guinness, and of-the-moment D.J.'s
Cassie Coane and Harley Viera-Newton. There are trend roundups
(camel! blazers! super-chunky knits!), of course, but also a peek
into the strange world of tween fashion and a special Look Book
featuring lower Broadway's best-dressed store clerks. Plenty to
behold, all told, but one of the most anticipated features is the
seasonal photography portfolio. This year's shooter was Brooklyn
photographer Andreas...
Last month I invited you to take a peek into my joyous little world
of raising a toddler. Meaning, not really all that joyous. Meaning,
quite the opposite. Meaning, MY HELL. Here’s another example
for you. (Please ignore the blurriness and the obvious fact that I
haven’t mopped the floor in two weeks.) It’s a [...]
I had these leopard print sandals that weren’t about to do
anyone any good in the state they were in: So I decided to use the
fur for to make a bracelet since I really liked the leopard
print. First, I VERY CAREFULLY cut the strap from the
sole with a rotary cutter. May not [...]

This summer has been one of the worst on record for me…in
terms of breakouts. I don’t know if it’s
because of my age, hormones or what but I feel like every week I
have a new breakout. The actual zits were pretty mild,
but they left unsightly red spots once they were gone and
that’s what drove me crazy! Thank God!Brought to you by:

About 90% of the time, I heart my boyfriend. He's so great to me,
he's adorable and it's just an all-around nice time being in a
healthy, normal relationship. I love him. I love him. I really love
him. (I just want to make sure I'm clear here.) I love him so much
we've taken the big step to move in together, which made sense
considering how much time he was staying over my apartment.

DLC Brooklyn is a far cry from your average rock ‘n’
roll-inspired jewelry line—no skulls, safety pins, or punk
totems here. But that’s not to say music hasn’t
inspired designer Susan Domelsmith’s statement creations.
“It’s very intertwined,” Domelsmith says of her
line and her band, Open Ocean. Take, for instance, the guitar
charms featured in [...]

In January Beyonce told the press she wanted to take a six month
break to do the things she had had no chance to do since her

What is Nitrobids? Nitrobids is a timed auction site where you can
buy high-value items such as TVs, cars, and jewelry for pennies on
the dollar. Recent items sold on Nitrobids: iPad 16GB - sold
for $6.21 Sony Blu-Ray disc player - sold for $10.36 How can items
be so cheap? Timed auctions are similar to competitive games, where
dozens or hundreds of people are bidding on the same item. The
winner of the auction is the last person to bid before the auction
timer runs out (usually set to 15 seconds or so). Because multiple
people are bidding on that item, the aggregate amount of money bid
(and thus contributed) to the item is closer to the item's resale
value. However, the winner gets the item for a very very cheap
price. You need to win to save, but its not hard to win. Get ...
